My spiritual journey
I was raised Catholic-Christian, but I had serious doubts about my faith starting from my teenage years. Knowing that these were life’s most important questions (with potentially eternal consequences -- see Pascal's Wager), I spent several years investigating questions of faith.
After completing a B.S. and B.A., I received a Master's in Oxford in Theology. While in Oxford, I took classes in Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and the Protestant Reformation. I completed a Fulbright Fellowship in Spain studying more religious history.
In the end, through a concomitance of evidence (historical, philosophical, scientific, and personal/experiential), I ended where I had started: I felt a reasonable certainty that the Catholic-Christian faith, despite the imperfections of many of its members throughout history, had a better hold on truth than other religions. Charged with this discovery, I felt the desire to share what I had learned with others. Eventually (after becoming a M.D., finishing my residency and fellowship, and taking a faculty position at Harvard Medical School, I became a Catholic deacon.
Most recently, I collaborated with others on creating these pamphlets and this website. I pray that it may assist you on your spiritual journey.
